This item was perfect for my 10-year-old daughter who loves graphic books and adventure! Really great value in the price. We read "regular" bibles but this series is perfect for kids. Great graphics and content.

My kids enjoy the stories of the Bible and the way they are written in comic strip form.

Was in far better shape than described and the Power Bible series is great for kids!

This is a great introduction to the Bible for the child that is not a fan of reading. Full of bright and colorful comic strip/anime images the stories hold true to the Biblical account and will give the reader an overview of key points, although it obviously can't delve deep due to the format. The publisher stove to "help young kids learn basic biblical principles in a format that is fun and easy" and I believe that they have accomplished their task.My 5 year old, who has very little exposure to anime, was excited to see a Bible that "actually looks like a comic book" and although she is a beginner reader, she was quick to identify some of the characters (especially Jesus) without help by simply looking at the pictures.My 14 year old, who LOVES to read, liked it as well. "It's really cool!" So definitely kid approved in our house. As a parent, though, I really feel like you can't use this as a primary text (which by no means am I claiming that is the publisher's attempt) and it would work great in conjunction with the actual text. I've found that it really has helped with Bible study for my children. They read something in the Power Bible and ask, "did it really happen like that?" and we pull out the Bible to compare.This installment focuses on Paul's ministry and briefly covers parts of Revelation. I do wish that they were a bit clearer on who some of those portrayed are. For example during the scenes of the Jerusalem Council no one other than Paul and Barnabas were identified. This left me wondering who the dissenter was as I didn't remember there being one. I went back and read the passages in my Bible and realized that he was supposed to represent a Pharisee. (Did I mention that these were good for making you pull out your Bible for comparing {wink wink})I did receive a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Four chapters, two hundred pages, mainly covering Paul's three missionary journeys. This includes the incident in Acts 26: 16-18 when Paul commands the evil spirit/demon to come out of the slave girl. A black cloaked figure is shown floating away. Not scary but a good visual of the truth. Loved it on page 35 when Paul slaps his sandals together as they leave a town where they are not welcome. The creators sensitively describe circumcision in a side note as a "religious ritual performed as proof of God's promise with the people of Israel." Of course the imprisonment of Paul and Silas is depicted but that is not as bloody/realistic as you would think. They were hurting and the text mentions how bruised and cut they were but the pictures just show a few scratches. However, overall the whole text and graphics show how much resistance Paul met when spreading the gospel. A good reality check and eye opener for children.Scripture references are provided at the beginning of each section (several in each chapter) so you can get your Bible out and compare if you wish. A nice, clear map is located at the end of each missionary journey. At the beginning of the book there is a character introduction along with a paragraph providing more details on each individual character. Very useful.I have to say I was disappointed that there were only 10 pages devoted to the book of Revelation. It feels like it was just skimmed over, put in there because it was thought needed. You read about the seven letters to the churches then see the seven seals and the four horses but nothing is really said about them. We see the singing around the throne and then it jumps to the New Jerusalem.So for the coverage of Paul's journeys and writings - EXCELLENT!For Revelation - very poor. If you want your child to learn more on Revelation, read the Bible or find a book that goes into more detail.Just so you know, I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
