I ordered several coloring books. I am very happy with what I purchased. I am looking forward to doing a lot of coloring..

 This book has great coloring opportunities of Art Deco inspired fashions of the 1920's, 1930's and even the early 1940's. The clothing designs have had a lot of detail added that were not probably part of the clothing of the period but which make it even more fun to color. The designs are by artist Ming-Ju Sun who has a number of coloring books on various fashions in the Dover family of product. Some of the designs are have intricate parts but I don't think I will have to use my magnifying lamp for this book. I've included pictures of both fully colored samples that are printed in the coloring book.There are 31 designs in this coloring book. As with all of the Creative Haven books that I have used in the past, these are on a bright white page that is a fairly heavy stock. The designs are printed on one side of the page only and the edges of each page have good perforations which make it easy to remove from the book.All of my gel pens and markers bleed through on Creative Haven books and this book is no different. I use freezer paper in between the sheets (if I am keeping it in the book) or under the page if I remove it from the book. You can also put sheets of heavy stock paper in between if you don't have freezer paper handy.I have been coloring adult color books as a way to relieve the stress of the day. I love fashion, too, so coloring in this book is even more fun. It reminds me of when I was a child coloring in my old Barbie color books. That alone, makes the time fly by and my stress lift.

I love this coloring book. Not only is the artwork lovely, but the pages are one-sided and perforated. One of my favorites.

I'm a bit confused by most of the reviews seen here, because they are for a book of art deco fashions rather than for the book sold on this page, which is Japanese kimono designs. My review is for Creative Haven's Japanese Kimono Designs.That being said, you can't go wrong with Creative Haven coloring books, with their one-sided format, good quality perforated pages, and talented artists. Ming-Ju Sun has done a wonderful job in designing these decorative kimonos. The book begins with an explanation of the components of a kimono, its design elements, and the accessories worn with it. The women in their kimonos are shown singly or in pairs with traditional Japanese backgrounds. The kimonos are absolutely stunning. But be aware that their designs are extremely complex, with tiny elaborate details that will require a fine-tipped gel pen or marker. I like the fact that each picture is contained in a thin border, which keeps the illustration away from the binding and makes it easier to color in the background.This is an artfully designed and challenging coloring book for the experienced colorist.

Ming Ju Sung is a very gifted artist, and this latest of her fashion designs is different, and challenging to color. While the lines of thedrawings are clean and simple, the dresses are highly detailed and require patience to color well. I would suggest colored pencils,and gel pens for the best results. This is not a book for young children. Perhaps 12 and up. I think anyone younger would have adifficult time with all the detail. As an update I just finished coloring the book. I had to use very fine tip markers in a lot of the designson the dresses. Stabillp and Staedtler are the two markers I used. There are 20 colors in each plastic case. Different colors in each of them.Surprisingly, the Prang inexpensive pencils worked very well on the green paper that Dover uses. I used them along with Prismacolor,andDerwent, and Dickl Blick. There are many choices of pencils, and Amazon seems to have most of them.This has been one of my favoritecoloring books.

I don't just like this book, I love it! The designs are clear and graceful, intricate and creative for a collection that is out of the ordinary. Fortunately the designs are on only one side of the page, on a good weight paper that lends itself to gel pens or water color, and they are serrated for easy removal. They have a lot of detail to balance nicely with simple backgrounds that are not overdone. About a third of the pictures have areas that are filled in with black ink, which interferes with my color scheme and I would prefer to select my own colors. Because of this I would give it 4 and 1/2 stars if I could, but the overall uniqueness of the product is exceptional and I think it deserves more than a 4 star rating.

This is lovely but many of the designs are just too complicated for older eyes. I have had the book for several weeks and have only done two. The second is my pride and I wish I knew how to show it. It would be better if there were some not so difficult as not ALL kimonos are that elaborate. Even simplicity can be beautiful. That is my only issue. It is nice otherwise.

Love all the different designs in this book. They're very detailed and intricate. Here are a couple I did using markers, glitter pens, and mostly colored pencils.
